Liquor License

Liquor licenses available in the City of Golden Valley include On-Sale, Sunday Sale, Club On-Sale, Wine and Strong Beer, Off-Sale, and Non-intoxicating Malt Liquor. Licenses are non-transferable.

Applying For A License

Businesses wishing to sell intoxicating liquor in the Golden Valley must submit a completed application packet to the City Manager's Office at least 60 days before the projected effective date.

Non-intoxicating liquor license applications are available through the Inspections Department (763-593-3986).

The Police Department and City Attorney's Office conduct a thorough investigation of all off-sale and intoxicating liquor license applications, including corporate structure, company officers, and premises managers.

 

License Year

  • Intoxicating Liquor: July 1 through June 30
  • Non-intoxicating Malt Liquor: April 1 through March 31

Permitted Hours and Days for Liquor Sales

  • On-Sale liquor sales are prohibited between 1 am and 8 am any weekday or between 1 am Sunday and 8 am Monday.
  • Off-Sale liquor sales are prohibited between 10 pm and 8 am Monday through Saturday. Off-Sale liquor sales are prohibited on Sundays, Thanksgiving Day, December 25, and after 8 pm December 24.
