Absentee Voting

Residents may vote by absentee ballot for any election. Absentee ballots will be available 45 days prior to the election.

  • General Election Nov 5, 2019: Absentee ballots are available starting Sept 20, 2019

Applying To Vote Absentee

To receive an absentee ballot, you'll need to complete an absentee ballot application. Once your completed and signed application is received, your absentee ballot will be mailed to you with instructions. There are several ways to apply for an absentee ballot:

  • In Person at City Hall during normal business hours or extended absentee voting hours (see below)
  • By Mail, Fax, or Email -- Download an absentee ballot application and send the completed form to:

    If you’re unable to download the application, call 612-348-5151 to request that an absentee ballot application be sent to you.

Military & Overseas Voters

If you are in the military or residing overseas, there is a different process for applying and voting by absentee ballot. Visit the Hennepin County website for more information

Track Your Absentee Ballot

You can track your absentee ballot using the Absentee Ballot Status Lookup feature on the Minnesota Secretary of State website.

Absentee Voting Hours

You may vote by absentee ballot at City Hall (2nd floor, 7800 Golden Valley Rd) beginning on the dates noted above for the general election. Office hours are Monday-Friday, 8 am-4:30 pm.

Closer to election days, City Hall will be open extended hours for absentee voting (sometimes called "early voting"):

  • General Election
    Saturday, Nov 2, 10 am-3 pm
    Monday, Nov 4, 8 am-5 pm
