Work At Hwy 55/Winnetka Ave Enters Final Stage

CenterPoint Energy’s gas line inspection project at the Hwy 55 and Winnetka Ave intersection entered its third and final stage Nov 2. Because of conditions in the field, the original lane closure and detour plan has been modified for Stage 3.
During Stage 3, one lane closure and detour will remain in effect:
- Lane Closure: Turn lane from westbound Hwy 55 to southbound Winnetka Ave
Detour: Continue westbound on Hwy 55 to the Hwy 169 interchange and use the loops to access eastbound Hwy 55 and then southbound Winnetka Ave.
There will also be several lane closures, and although other lanes will still be available to serve most traffic movements, drivers should expect delays during peak hours:
- Lane Closure: One of the through lanes on westbound Hwy 55
- Lane Closure: The left turn lane on westbound Hwy 55 (no left turns allowed for westbound traffic)
- Lane Closure: One of the left turn lanes on eastbound Hwy 55
- Lane Closure: One of the through lanes on northbound Winnetka Ave
- Lane Closure: One of the left turn lanes on southbound Winnetka Ave
CenterPoint crews estimate they have another two weeks of work, depending on weather and pipeline conditions.
