Human Rights Commission To Sponsor Sept 11 Day Of Service Event

Golden Valley’s Human Rights Commission (HRC) will host a National Day of Service and Remembrance community event Sept 11, 6-8 pm, at Second Harvest Heartland in Golden Valley. Everyone (age 8 and older) is invited to participate.

Join friends, neighbors, and community members in helping to sort and re-pack food from food drives and donations, label cans, or re-package bulk food such as pasta, cereal, rice, apples, or potatoes into family size packages. These items go to Second Harvest Heartland’s partner agencies, including local food shelves and soup kitchens that serve people at risk for hunger. The volunteer shift will start with an orientation explaining Second Harvest Heartland’s mission and how to sort and pack the food. Volunteers must be able to stand for several hours.
