Council Approves 2017 City Budget And Tax Levy

At its Dec 6 meeting, the Golden Valley City Council unanimously adopted the City’s proposed 2017-2018 biennial budget and 2017 tax levy (payable 2017). The 2017 tax levy will be $21,531,403, a reduction of $131,700 from the preliminary levy of $21,663,103 adopted by the City Council Sept 20.

This total tax levy is the amount of property taxes needed to help fund the City’s general operations and bond payments.

The City portion of property taxes on the median home (valued at $262,000) will increase $59.80, or $4.98/month. Costs for the new Brookview increased taxes on the median home, otherwise property taxes on the median home would have decreased by $22.64 for 2017.

The adopted City budget for 2017-2018 will be posted on the website in early January.
