First Firefighter Recruitment Meeting Is May 4
Golden Valley needs paid, on-call firefighters. This skills-driven commitment will leave you prepared to face any number of unique challenges, both as a firefighter and a civilian. If you’re interested in learning more, the City is hosting a few informational meetings and demonstrations.
Each of these events will give you an opportunity to get more information and talk with firefighters about the job, the training it requires, and how they fit it into their lives:
- May 4, 6:30 pm — Firefighter Recruitment Meeting
- June 8, 6-10 pm — Firefighter Recruitment Expo
Participants will be able to try on gear, practice some firefighting skills, watch a live burn, take part in a Jaws of Life demo, and more. Golden Valley firefighters will be on hand to chat one-on-one about how they balance day jobs, families, and firefighting, where they find the time, and why they keep doing it.
- June 22, 9:30 am & 6:30 pm — Firefighter Recruitment Meeting
All events will be held at Golden Valley Fire Department Station 1, 7800 Golden Valley Rd.
To be a Golden Valley firefighter, you must live or work within six minutes of a City fire station and be age 18 or older. It also helps to be in good shape and have a clean driving and criminal record. Beyond that, it’s a matter of what you’re willing to give of yourself and your time.
