Get To Know Your Golden Valley Firefighters: Tom Bloxsom

The Golden Valley Fire Department is looking for paid, on-call firefighters to serve their community and keep the community safe. Come to a GVFD recruitment event and learn more from one of the department’s many paid, on-call firefighters, like Tom Bloxsom.

Bloxsom, 54, has been with the Golden Valley Fire Department since 2015 and enjoys every minute of it.

“I like being around and working as a team with other people who are in the same frame of mind, to help people, and be ready,” he says. “It’s serious work but you have fun and you make friendships.”

He said he would encourage others who are considering becoming paid, on-call firefighters.

“I would say to do it. It’s something to do that lets you work with and help others.”

Find Out What It Takes
Have you ever wondered what it takes to be a firefighter? What it takes to put others before yourself and risk your life to save another’s? Have you ever considered becoming a firefighter yourself but never had an opportunity to pursue that dream? Now is your chance.

To talk to Tom and others with the GVFD, come to the Firefighter Recruitment Expo on June 8, 6-10 pm, or check out one of the recruitment meetings June 22, at 9:30 am or 6:30 pm.
