City Partners With New Community Arts League To Feature Public Art On Street Banners

The City’s new street banners in downtown Golden Valley will soon feature public artwork, thanks to a partnership with the newly formed Golden Valley Arts League (GVAL). These banners will replace the old, damaged ones that line a few streets near City Hall campus. Submissions are being accepted now!

To solicit art for the banners, the City turned to GVAL, which is part of the Golden Valley Community Foundation.

GVAL is coordinating a search for submissions from local artists that will showcase the variety and quality of art in the community. Art submissions should have a connection to Golden Valley in some form, whether it be residency, recreation, history, schools, employment, or subject matter. All ages are encouraged to participate.

The art submission deadline is June 30, with the public input period beginning July 1. The installation and reveal of the banners is scheduled for October 2017.
