Fire Safety Alert: Kidde United Tech Fire Extinguishers Recalled
Kidde United Technologies and the Consumer Product Safety Commission have announced a product safety recall notice for more than 40 million fire extinguishers. The recall is specific to fire extinguishers produced by Kidde United Technologies sold between 1973 and 2017. This affects plastic handle and plastic push button style extinguishers.
Kidde extinguishers can be found in home, vehicle, and boat uses. Some have been found to get clogged or fail to discharge during a fire. The recall includes 134 models manufactured between 1973 and 2017. All recalled extinguishers have a plastic handle or plastic push button. Extinguishers with a metal handle or valve assembly are not part of the recall.
Kidde is offering free replacements to anyone who owns one or more of the recalled units.
