Golden Valley Elects Rosenquist And Fonnest

The Golden Valley City Council will have one new member and one returning incumbent when it reconvenes Jan 2, 2018.

In the Nov 7 City election, Gillian Rosenquist and Larry Fonnest defeated three other candidates (John Giese, Jim Ryan, and Andy Schuler) to fill two four-year Council terms. Current Council member Andy Snope did not seek reelection.

Rosenquist has lived in Golden Valley for 15 years and has previously practiced intellectual property law and worked for a legal nonprofit. She has served on the City’s Open Space and Recreation Commission since 2012 and is involved in multiple community and school organizations. She has a JD degree from William Mitchell College of Law.

Fonnest returns for a second term on the Council. He has lived in Golden Valley for 21 years, is a retired business owner, and previously served on the City’s Board of Zoning Appeals as well as on numerous governor appointed commissions focused on community service and youth development. Fonnest has a degree in political science and a masters’ degree in natural resource management from the University of Minnesota.
