Holiday Train Rolls Into Town Dec 10
The 1,000-foot Canadian Pacific Holiday Train will roll into Golden Valley Sunday, Dec 10, stopping at the railway crossing at Golden Hills Dr at 4:50 pm. This free event will be fun for all ages and will support PRISM, our local food shelf. Festivities start at 4:15 pm, including carolers, a photo booth, warm beverages and treats. The Urban Sub, Wandering Mug, and Mobile Brats & Burgers food trucks will also be on site.
The train’s 14 rail cars will be decorated with hundreds of thousands of LED lights and holiday designs and will bring featured performers Terri Clark, Dallas Smith, and Kelly Prescott.
Upon arrival, a stage door lowers for musical performances and a brief presentation with local dignitaries and food bank representatives. After 30 minutes, the boxcar door closes and the train moves on to the next stop.
Since 1999, the Holiday Train has traveled across the United States and Canada, entertaining communities and raising money and collecting donations for local food banks. Donations of healthy food options are encouraged (see CP’s Healthy Donations suggestions). Check with PRISM regarding its specific needs. Representatives on site will collect both food and monetary donations. Every dollar and pound of food collected at this free event will help feed the 5,000+ children and adults who come to PRISM each year.
Parking & Traffic
Golden Hills Dr will be closed to traffic between Colorado Ave and Xenia Ave. Parking will be available in the Allianz and Colonnade ramps. Please plan to arrive on time, as heavy traffic is expected, and dress accordingly for the weather.
