All Golden Valley skating rinks are now closed for the season. Rinks will re-open in mid-December, weather permitting.
With nearly 400 write-in votes cast and 271 different name suggestions submitted, the Name that Pooch! contest winner has been decided. As you walk into the new Brookview Golden Valley, you’ll be greeted in the lobby by a bronze statue of a dog named Brooks.
To honor the legacy of Dr Martin Luther King, Jr, the Golden Valley Human Rights Commission (HRC) sponsored a “MLK Day Literary Contest” this winter. Hopkins student Joseph Ramlet won first place for his essay, “Understanding by Collaborating: A Reflection on Dr Martin Luther King, Jr.”
City crews are monitoring weather conditions and plan to begin anti-icing operations on Golden Valley streets at noon today, Feb 19, with plowing to commence at 2 am Feb 20. Schedules will be adjusted as needed.

The last show of the season for Comedy at Brookview is this Sat, Feb 17, at 8 pm, with national headliner John Bush. General admission tickets are available through the night of the show, but dinner and package deals close Thursday at noon.
Calling all fans of midcentury modern architecture: Larry Millett, author of “Minnesota Modern: Architecture and Life at Midcentury,” will give a presentation at Brookview Golden Valley March 3 from 1 to 2 pm.
