Calling all local artists: The City of Golden Valley is accepting artist applications for art displays at Brookview and City Hall for the summer and fall rotations. The deadline to apply is April 6, 2018.
Residents, businesses, property owners, and the general public are encouraged to attend a community workshop Wed, March 28, 6–8 pm, to help guide planning for the areas around the future METRO Blue Line Extension light rail transit (LRT) line. The workshop will be held at Unity Minneapolis, 4000 Golden Valley Rd, Golden Valley.
The Golden Valley City Council is seeking citizens interested in becoming more active in their city government by volunteering to serve on the City’s Advisory Boards and Commissions. Deadline for applications is March 26, 2018.
City crews will begin plowing all Golden Valley streets curb to curb at 2 am Tuesday, March 6. No parking is allowed on any street until the storm has ended and plowing has been completed, and from 2 am to 6 am daily.
Davis Community Center will be closed March 5. There will be no evening youth basketball practices. (Davis follows Hopkins School District weather cancellations, so when school is cancelled, Davis is closed.)
Run The Valley, one of Golden Valley’s most popular community events, needs volunteers Saturday, April 21, to help ensure a smooth and safe event for the runners and walkers. Several opportunities are available, from greeters and course helpers to refreshments and clean-up.
On Feb 24, 12 Golden Valley firefighters and one family member participated as Team Golden Valley Fire in the American Lung Association Fight for Air stair climb at US Bank Plaza in Minneapolis. The fund raiser brought dozens of fire departments and hundreds of firefighters to the 31-story building for a full fire-gear climb.
