Community Workshop March 28 Is For Advance Planning Of Future Light Rail Station Area

Residents, businesses, property owners, and the general public are encouraged to attend a community workshop Wed, March 28, 6–8 pm, to help guide planning for the areas around the future METRO Blue Line Extension light rail transit (LRT) line. The workshop will be held at Unity Minneapolis, 4000 Golden Valley Rd, Golden Valley.

This meeting is a part of the ongoing Bottineau Community Works Program, led by Hennepin County and in partnership with Cities of Golden Valley, Robbinsdale, Crystal, and Brooklyn Park. As part of this effort, the cities are exploring opportunities to update zoning policies and identify future pedestrian and bicycle connections in support of the future LRT.

The workshop will include an informational presentation and interactive activities to engage the public in the planning process. Project team members will be available at the workshop for questions, and refreshments will be provided. All are welcome.

Background

The METRO Blue Line Extension (Bottineau LRT) is a proposed 13-mile expansion of the existing METRO Blue LINE in the Twin Cities area. The Hennepin County Bottineau LRT Community Works Program was established in 2014 to partner with cities along the Bottineau LRT corridor in the effort to plan for and implement critical changes “beyond the rail.” For more information contact Kyle Mianulli at kyle.mianulli@hennepin.us or 612-596-9875.
