The Golden Valley Parks and Recreation Department has a new partnership with Young Dance, a group that has been “Transforming Lives Through Movement” since 1987. Young Dance teaches kids to build body and spirit through the creative art of dance and is bringing three new youth dance classes to Golden Valley.
Paintings, photography, and a mixture of both mediums are now being displayed at Brookview and City Hall for the fall season as part of the City’s Rotational Art Program that gives local and regional artists the opportunity to exhibit their artwork in a public space.
How can you give back to your community and have fun at the same time? The Golden Valley Golf & Lawn Bowling Classic, coming up Sept 17 at Brookview, provides one opportunity. Now is the time to get a few friends or neighbors together for a golf foursome or lawn bowling team and sign up to help make Golden Valley a better place.
The City is now accepting artist applications for rotating art displays at Brookview and City Hall for winter and spring. The deadline to apply is Sept 28, 2018. Artists will be notified by Oct 31, 2018 if their artwork is chosen.
Construction of the new Brookview lawn bowling rinks is nearly complete, with the rinks set to reopen Aug 1. To celebrate the grand reopening and the start of the fall league season, Brookview is hosting a night of free lawn bowling Aug 3, 6-9 pm.
Lime is bringing its first shipment of dockless bikes to Golden Valley Fri, July 20. Look for them at City Hall, Brookview, Brookview Park, and other selected spots–the bright lime green bicycles are hard to miss!
Bring your family, a chair or blanket, and your love of ice cream and join the free celebration at the next Entertainment in the Parks Mon, July 9, 7 pm at Brookview Park.
