Theodore-Wirth  Park is a regional park that’s located primarily within the Golden Valley City limits.

The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board has convened a Citizen Advisory Committee to review and prioritize needed improvements for Theodore Wirth Regional Park. Because of the scope of this project, CAC members would like to collect feedback from neighbors on their use and ideas of the northern area of the park that is used for trail, winter recreation and golf activities. This year, take advantage of the new patron program discounts. Patron cards entitle the holder to a variety of discounts on green fees and advance reservation privileges. They may be purchased by residents or non-residents.

The rinks had previously been scheduled to close on Monday, February 21.

Brookview Community Center

Set in the tranquility of Brookview Golf Course, Brookview Community Center (200 Brookview Parkway) offers space year-round for gatherings of up to 200 guests. Facilities include a large banquet room with neutral decor, a caterer’s kitchen, and a patio, deck, and gazebo that provide expansive golf course views. During colder months, the Brookview Grill offers the same views and a warm, comfortable atmosphere for up to 60 people.

Park Picnic Shelters

The picnic shelters at Brookview Park (southwest corner of Hwy 55 and Winnetka) are available through mid-April through the first week of October, from either 11 am to 4pm or 5 pm to dusk. Both shelters are easy walking distance to the playgrounds and sand volleyball courts. Brookview Parks’ total capacity is 300.

Golden Valley residents, business, churches, or organizations may reserve picnic shelters now, and beginning Feb 10, anyone outside of Golden Valley may make reservations. Find out more about Brookview Park’s picnic shelters.

Also, the first practice for the Rink Rat Hockey Program, scheduled for Sunday, Jan 2, has been canceled. The City hopes to reopen rinks Monday, Jan 3, weather permitting.

The City has 16 skating rinks, which opened Dec 18 and will remain open through Feb 21 with the exception of poor weather conditions. During extreme cold or warm weather, rinks and shelter buildings will be closed. Check by calling 763-512-2350 before dropping children off. “Closed” signs are also posted on park shelter doors.
