The rain didn’t keep the celebration at bay as dozens of attendees came out for the Covenant Village of Golden Valley dedication of a brand new Little Free Library at the City’s St Croix Park. The event also doubled as a grand opening for the new St Croix Park playground, which was installed this summer.
Golden Valley’s Human Rights Commission (HRC) will host a National Day of Service and Remembrance community event Sept 11, 9 am-1 pm, at Market In The Valley (the farmer’s market in the Golden Valley City Hall parking lot). On Feb 27, five firefighters from the Golden Valley Fire Department (GVFD) participated in American Lung Association Fight for Air stair climb at US Bank Plaza in Minneapolis. The event is a fund raiser that brought 47 fire departments and 260 firefighters to the 31-story building for a full fire-gear climb.
Four Golden Valley citizens were among 10 volunteers recently recognized by the Bassett Creek Watershed Management Commission (BCWMC) for their hard work in helping the BCWMC achieve its mission: “Stewardship of water resources to protect and enhance our communities.” They include Jonathan Burris, Shanna Hanson, Linda Loomis, and Cara Rickenberg.
