Introduction to Drawing

Through guided exercises this course will help beginners to see and draw accurately and those with experience to get their drawing skills back up to speed. Drawing techniques include gesture, contour, value, positive and negative space, perspective, and proportions of objects related to nature, landscape and people. Instructed by Carolyn Papke, an artist and retired teacher.
Participants should bring: An inexpensive 9x12 spiral bound sketch book, two pencils 2B and HB, and one Pigma Micron black pen #03 or #05. $50 ($55 Non Resident).

Watercolor Basics

A class for beginners and people who want to renew their watercolor skills. Course includes an introduction to watercolor materials, color, washes, wet on wet, wet on dry, values, glazing, and creative uses of your work. Each student will build on skills learned in the previous session. (An understanding of drawing skills will enhance your painting results.) A supply list will be provided. Students are responsible to bring their own supplies. Instructor Carolyn Papke is a retired teacher and artist. $50 ($55 Non Resident).

Landscape For Life

Are you looking for an economical but beautiful plan to add landscaping to your yard? In this class, you will learn how to use easy to find plants to landscape for yourself and future generations. Bring a photo of your site and/or the area dimensions and go home ready to plant! Class starts with a PowerPoint presentation on how to attract wildlife to your yard, a presentation on native planting and green gardens, question and answer session, and time to work individually on flower bed plans. *Resident fee applies to Golden Valley, New Hope and Robbinsdale. Register by April 10.
