Art Expo: Abstract Nature ArtAges 6-12

Tuesday, May 10, 6:30–8 pm
@ Brookview Community Center

Learn about the nature artist and naturalist, Charley Harper, who uses geometric shapes, line and shape patterns, and mechanical drawing tools to draw and paint nature and wildlife. Create abstract drawings of plants, animals and birds. Also explore a variety of paper and mechanical drawing tools, i.e., templates, ruler, compass, etc. $36 ($41 non-resident). Code: 10717.

Art Expo: The Art of DrawingAges 6-12

Tuesday–Thursday, June 21–23, 3–4:30 pm
@ Brookview Community Center

Activities explore a variety of materials and methods to draw in free form, realistic, abstract, or expressionistic style. Learn to apply perspective to create 3-D drawings of objects, architecture, city and landscapes. Experience line, shape/value to draw nature, characters, animals and your favorite subjects. Explore drawing with found objects, brush drawing and mono printing also. $54 ($59 non-resident). Code: 10718.

Art Expo: Star Wars Universe & Clone War SeriesAges 6-12

Tuesday–Thursday, July 19–21, 3–4:30 pm

Explore a variety of materials and "special effects" art methods to draw favorite characters, creatures, events from episodes 1-6. Sculpt clay into 3-D figure or action scenes. Also illustrate scenes from the Clone Wars Series in cartoon and manga style. Make still life drawings from Lego miniature models.$54 ($59 non-resident). Code: 10719.

Art Expo: Imagination & Mixed Media ArtAges 6-12

Tuesday–Thursday, July 26–28, 6:30–8:30 pm
@ Brookview Community Center

Explore and combine a variety of media and subject. Draw, paint, print, sculpt clay, collage, origami fold and marble paper to portray 2/3 dimensional art. Create a portfolio of realistic and imaginative mythological beings, dinosaurs, dragons, heroes, villains, exotic wild life and environments. Refer to major artists and authors like Avatar, Percy Jackson, etc. for inspiration. $54 ($59 non-resident). Code: 10720.

Art Expo: Paint & Draw With ColorAges 6-12

Tuesday–Thursday, August 2–4, 3–4:30 pm
@ Brookview Community Center

Learn to mix, blend, layer and glaze color to create unusual color patterns and textures to spark your drawings and paintings. Learn a variety of watercolor and gouache painting methods, pen and ink wash, oil pastel, chalk and colored pencil application to create colorful nature subjects, still life, landscapes, figures and portrait art work. Paint a ceramic tile with acrylic paints. $54 ($59 non-resident). Code: 10721.

Playground Arts & Crafts Ages 6–14

A different craft project will be offered weekly at the seven community parks. Pick-up a flyer at the park shelter buildings which lists all the projects. Also, you can purchase a craft punch card and save $4! Craft cards can be purchased at Brookview Community Center for $10 and are good for 7 crafts. $2/craft or 7 craft punch card for $10. Jewelry Making Ages 7–12

Have you seen some of the cool jewelry that can be made from different materials? Well, now you can learn to make them yourself! You will work with various items to create cool necklaces, bracelets and rings. All materials will be provided. $32 ($37 non-resident). Code: 10764.

Balloon Workshop Ages 8+

Monday, August 8, 1–3 pm
@ Brookview Community Center

Even if you are all thumbs, you can transform ordinary balloons into animals, hats, flowers and more! It’s all easy and fun! Fee includes materials which are provided by the instructor, Annette Fragale. $15 ($20 non-resident). Code: 10683.
