DeCola Ponds B And C Improvement Project

In its capital improvement program, the Bassett Creek Watershed Management Commission (BCWMC) identified areas around DeCola Ponds B and C for possible expansion of flood storage. The goal is to design a project that meets the needs of property owners potentially impacted by flooding as well as nearby residents and park users.

A BCWMC feasibility study outlined and evaluated the conditions, costs, and potential concept alternatives. The City worked closely with the BCWMC to help with the study and public engagement process. Open houses were held in fall 2017 and spring 2018, and work on the project could be scheduled for 2019 and 2020.

Improvement Project Open House Feb 6 At Brookview

The City of Golden Valley and the Bassett Creek Watershed Management Commission are hosting an open house Feb 6, between 5 and 7:30 pm at Brookview, for the DeCola Ponds B and C Improvement Project.

The project includes the expansion of areas surrounding the ponds to create flood storage and help alleviate frequent pond flooding problems.

The open house is being held to provide information on the project, share preliminary design plans, and to gather feedback from residents to help guide the final design of the project.

For more information about the flooding problems and the comprehensive flood mitigation plan approved by the City of Golden Valley in 2016, visit the City website.
