The City of Golden Valley and the Bassett Creek Watershed Management Commission (BCWMC) are working on the design and construction of a flood reduction project on the SEA School and Wildwood Park properties in Golden Valley. This is the next phase in a series of flood mitigation projects identified in the Medicine Lake Road and Winnetka Avenue Area Long Term Flood Mitigation Plan. This project serves to benefit the areas around DeCola Ponds D, E, and F by reducing flood levels and flood damages to nearby homes and infrastructure while increasing the community’s resilience to extreme weather and climate events.
Sept 2021: Agreements approved by City, BCWMC, and MnDNR to design and construct project

Feb 2022: Incorporate comments and feedback from the engineering feasibility study, engage with residents and stakeholders, and review revised 50 percent design plans
June 2022: Informal Open House to review revised 50 percent design plans
Sept 2022: Informal Open House to review revised 90 percent design plans
Project Bidding:
Winter 2023: The City of Golden Valley will put the project out for bids.
March 2023: The Golden Valley City Council expects to award the bid to a contractor.
