Want to give back to your community and have fun at the same time? Run The Valley, coming up April 23, provides one opportunity to do just that. Now is the time to sign up to walk or run and help make Golden Valley a better place.
Each year Run The Valley raises money for the Golden Valley Human Services Commission (GVHSC). The Commission then advises the City Council regarding how to allocate the money to organizations that benefit Golden Valley residents in need.
One organization the GVHSC works with is Helping Us Grow (HUG). HUG provides support to families prenatal and postpartum up to a child's second birthday, including home visits with a licensed Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) specialist and information on community resources. HUG partners with non-profit The Diaper Bank, MN to collect new diapers, pull-ups, and wipes for families struggling with this daily need. In 2021, the GVHSC allocated $5,000 to HUG.
