This spring and summer, the City of Golden Valley will begin numerous street construction projects to upgrade its infrastructure.
2022 Pavement Management Program (PMP)
In 2022, the PMP will reconstruct 1.33 miles of street in northwest Golden Valley (see map). The project is expected to begin as soon as conditions allow in the spring and will include replacing water mains and storm sewers and rehabilitating sanitary sewers. Learn more.
CenterPoint Energy Gas Main Replacement
Starting March 28, CenterPoint Energy will replace the natural gas mains, connect the natural gas service lines to the new mains, move any inside meters outside, and remove the existing natural gas mains, and restore the areas affected on the City's 2022 PMP streets. During this time, lane shifts will occur. Parking may be restricted on the side of the street where the crews are working.
The CenterPoint website will be updated with project information here.
Glenwood Ave Watermain Rehabilitation
The watermain system along Glenwood Ave has experienced more than a dozen watermain breaks in the past three years. This summer, the watermain between Jersey Ave and King Creek Rd will be rehabilitated using a cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) liner. While this type of project isn’t as disruptive as a full watermain replacement, it will still require lane shifts, closures, and brief water outages along and in neighborhoods adjacent to Glenwood Ave.
Railroad Crossing Improvements
The Union Pacific Railroad is expected to replace crossings at 10th Ave N and Mendelssohn Ave N near the intersection of the two streets. When the project begins, each street will be closed for approximately one week. Detours will be posted ahead of time, and information regarding the closures will be published on the City website.
