This week the City's Public Safety Departments are hosted multiple community events like the Public Safety Open House, 5–8 pm, Wed, June 15 at City Hall and Public Safety in the Parks, 11 am, Thu, June 16 at Hampshire Park.
Public Safety Open House
The Public Safety Open House is June 15, 5–8 pm at City Hall. Residents of all ages are encouraged to come out and meet the Golden Valley Fire, Police, and Public Works Department staff who help keep the community safe and learn about the tools and resources they use on an everyday basis.
The Public Works Department will have a few pieces of equipment on display; the Police Department will perform drone and K9 demonstrations and will have vehicles on display; and the Fire Department will share public safety information and showcase fire vehicles.
The event is free and open to all.
Public Safety in the Parks
This week's event is 11 am, Thu, June 16 at Hampshire Park. Come meet the Golden Valley Police and Fire Departments this summer in parks around town at Public Safety in the Parks. Police and firefighters visit and talk with kids, give safety lectures, maybe serve ice cream, and have fun. On hot days, the firetruck becomes the source of a gigantic sprinkler to help the kids cool down.
The goal is to create opportunities for police and firefighters to meet with Golden Valley residents in a casual setting so they get to know each other, develop trust, and build partnerships that ultimately enhance crime prevention and fire safety in the community.
