Earlier this week the Golden Valley Police Department (GVPD) revealed its new patch design on social media. Residents will start to see the patch on officers and GVPD promotional material over the next month.
The Police Department had wanted to update its patch for years, and according to Golden Valley Police Director Virgil Green, the new patch is a rebranding effort that included input from various GVPD supervisors and other staff.
Initially two patches were designed and staff voted on the options.
"We wanted to make this a team effort where many staff members had a voice in the process. " said Green. "Our officers are are dedicated to their careers and to this city and wanted a new uniform patch that they can wear with pride."
Green also says there are other changes coming to the GVPD that will be shared in the coming weeks.
