October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and law enforcement agencies across the State of Minnesota, including the Golden Valley Police Department, are wearing pink patches to recognize and raise funds for breast cancer.
Under the new leadership of Chief Virgil Green, this is the first time the Golden Valley Police Department has had a pink patch designed.
"This is something I really wanted our department to be involved in," said Green.
With the help of Acting Assistant Police Chief of Operations Terry Sleavin, who worked with the agency's vendor to create a pink patch, Chief Green has authorized Golden Valley officers to wear these on their uniforms during October.
The Golden Valley Police Officers Association has also purchased patches to sell to the public to support Breast Cancer Awareness, and all funds will be donated to charity to help support cancer awareness. Community members can purchase a patch here.
“We are extremely honored and proud to be a part of this very important project,” says Green.
