The City of Golden Valley is hosting a Fire Station Location Open House Tue, Oct 25, 4–8 pm at Fire Station One (7700 Golden Valley Rd) and an information session on the City's Home Ownership Program for Equity (HOPE) Oct 26, 4:30–6:30 pm at Brookview (316 Brookview Pkwy).
Station Location Open House
This fall the City is beginning a process to select a site for a new remote fire station, a priority determined by a 2021 analysis of all of its facilities and how they meet community needs.
The site selection process for the new remote fire station will include opportunities for community engagement and will culminate in:
- choosing a location that has 2 to 4 acres of land
- property acquisition work
- a site plan and planning-level cost estimates
- improved accuracy of financial projections and planning for facilities
The Oct 25 open house will be a chance for the City to share information with community members and for residents to ask questions about the project.
HOPE Information Session
HOPE makes city-owned vacant property available for the development of housing for affordable and equitable homeownership. The goal is to help reduce racial disparity in homeownership, build wealth, provide long-term affordability, and support Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (owned, operated, employed, contracted, subcontracted).
The Oct 26 information session will be an opportunity for staff to share information about the program and the City's affordable housing goals with residents.
