Community engagement on the City's Station Location Project continued Oct 25 with an informational open house at Fire Station One. The City is still collecting feedback from residents unable to attend the open house.
- how firefighter recruiting challenges have forced the GVFD to rethink its staffing model and the number of stations needed to provide high-quality, efficient emergency services to the community
- the health and safety challenges that come with outdated facilities that do not accommodate current best practices
- facility deficiencies such as inequitable accommodations for male and female staff and lack of proper space for maintenance, hands-on training, and physical fitness training
Community members unable to attend the open house are encouraged to review the project materials on the City website and share feedback online. A location decision is expected by the end of the year.
