n Valley police officers are investigating the theft of multiple vehicles early the morning of Tuesday, Aug 15, 2023 from Morrie's Recon Center in the 700 block of Colorado Ave S, Golden Valley. Employees arriving at work at approximately 5:20 am discovered the overhead garage door had been destroyed and seven vehicles had been stolen.
According to Golden Valley Police Chief Virgil Green, surveillance video shows suspects in an older model white SUV entering the property around 1:30 am Aug 15 and using the vehicle to force open the overhead garage door. The video shows suspects leaving in a stolen vehicle from the business and returning with multiple other suspects, who then drove out of the business in more stolen vehicles.
The stolen vehicles include a 2015 Honda CRV, 2024 Subaru Outback, 2023 Subaru Forester, 2014 BMW 3 Series, 2013 Chevrolet Camaro, 2022 Ford F-150 Limited, and a 2023 Maserati Ghibli Trofeo with no license plate (see photo).
“Our detectives are working aggressively on gathering additional details and suspect information,” says Green, “and we’re asking for public assistance in the investigation. We know the 2023 Maserati Ghibli Trofeo with no license plate is going to stick out. If you see this vehicle, contact the GVPD at 763-593-8059 or email us at police@goldenvalleymn.gov.
“Golden Valley has many high-end car dealerships along I-394,” adds Green. “We are contacting those dealerships to alert them about these recent auto thefts and to make sure their alarm systems and cameras systems are actively being monitored 24/7.”
