The Golden Valley Police Department (GVPD) is crediting an observant North Minneapolis resident for a tip that led to the recovery of four cars stolen early morning Tuesday, Aug 15, 2023, from Morrie's Recon Center in the 700 block of Colorado Ave S, Golden Valley.
Golden Valley Police Chief Virgil Green said he received a call from a citizen around 8:30 pm Wednesday, Aug 16 providing information related to the stolen vehicles, including a 2023 Maserati. “The citizen recognized the vehicle from seeing a picture of it on the news and said you don’t normally see a car like that in North Minneapolis,” added Green.
“We immediately sent Golden Valley officers to the area of 21st Ave N and Emerson, where they observed the Maserati as well as a black Ford F-150 and a Subaru Outback, all stolen from Morrie’s Reconditioning Center in Golden Valley,” said Green. Officers also recovered a white GMC truck that was reported stolen from a neighboring city.
“Thanks to the tip, within 24 hours we were able to recover five of the seven vehicles that were stolen Tuesday morning,” said Green. “We are still looking for the 2023 Subaru Forester and the 2013 Chevrolet Camaro.
Green said GVPD detectives are working aggressively to gather additional details and suspect information. “We continue to seek public assistance in this investigation. If you see these vehicles, contact the GVPD at 763-593-8059 or email us at police@goldenvalleymn.gov.”
