The Golden Valley City Council will have a new mayor, Roslyn Harmon, and two returning incumbents, Sophia Ginis and Maurice Harris, when it reconvenes in 2024.*
In the Nov 7 City election, Ginis and Harris defeated Jean Kidd for two four-year Council seats; Harmon defeated Gillian Rosenquist to fill the four-year Mayor seat. Current Mayor Shep Harris did not seek re-election after serving three terms.
Harmon has lived in Golden Valley for 30 years and serves on the City's Police Employment, Accountability, & Community Engagement (PEACE) Commission. She is the executive director of the Dispute Resolution Center.
Ginis has been a Golden Valley resident since 2019 and was appointed to fill the seat vacated by Kimberly Sanberg's resignation in June 2023. She is the director of community affairs at Metro Transit.
Harris has lived in Golden Valley since 2012 and has served on the City Council since 2020. He is a research manager for Minneapolis Saint Paul Regional Economic Development Partnership.
