Approximately 20 percent of Golden Valley's eligible voters will be impacted by recent redistricting changes and will vote at a new polling location in 2022. Redistricting happens every 10 years following completion of the United States Census.
For the first time in decades, moving forward the City of Golden Valley will not have a Congressional or State legislative boundary dividing the city. Removing this legislative boundary helps eliminate precincts split by school districts and minimize polling locations located outside their own precinct boundaries. It also more accurately assigns precinct locations based on recent population changes, future growth projections, and the capacity of polling locations. Golden Valley's only remaining boundary line separates the city into the Robbinsdale and Hopkins School Districts.
All voters in Golden Valley will receive a postcard from Hennepin County in June with information about changes to polling locations. Please note, until the State of Minnesota finishes updating its voter registration system in June, online maps will not show the updated districts.
