Golden Valley's Public Works Department includes the divisions Streets, Parks, Utilities, and Vehicle Maintenance. The Department consists of 33 full-time employees and 8-10 temporary/seasonal employees.

Public Works is responsible for maintaining the City's infrastructure (streets, sidewalks, trails, parks, and sanitary sewer, water, and storm sewer systems), vehicles, and buildings.

Park Maintenance

Park Maintenance is responsible for maintaining City parks, including skating rinks and open space (but not including Brookview Golf Course), forestry, and managing public buildings. Staff includes a supervisor, crew leader, six maintenance workers, and an assistant forester.

Street Maintenance

Street Maintenance is responsible for maintaining City streets, including snow plowing, seal coating, and patching as well as waste and recycling programs. Staff includes a supervisor, crew leader, and seven maintenance workers.

To report a Public Works emergency after business hours, please call 911. Emergencies include water main breaks, sanitary sewer back-ups, or extremely slippery street conditions.

If you have a non-emergency situation after business hours that does not require an immediate response from from Public Works staff, please call 763-593-8079, and your message will be forwarded to the Public Works standby staff.

Utilities Maintenance

Utilities Maintenance is responsible for operating and maintaining the City's utilities, including the water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer systems. Staff includes a supervisor, inspector, a crew leader, two specialists, and six maintenance workers.

Vehicle Maintenance

Vehicle Maintenance is responsible for repair and maintenance of all City vehicles and equipment. Staff includes a supervisor, crew leader, and a mechanic.
