Election Judge Information

Figures on poll chart

The City of Golden Valley is always looking for qualified voters to act as election judges. Election Judges earn $13.82 per hour. State law permits employees to take time off from work without loss of pay to serve as election judges. At each polling place, election judges work together to ensure a fair and accessible election for all eligible voters in the city. Election judges open/close polling places, register new voters, explain voting procedures, and provide assistance as needed. Election judges may be asked to serve in the precinct where they live or elsewhere in the city.

2021 General Election Update: Election judge applications will be posted summer 2021. Thank you for your interest in serving as an election judge with the City of Golden Valley.

+ Health and Safety Guidelines

Updated May 2021: As the situation with COVID-19 and the Governor’s orders are changing in the near future, we are thinking about how that will impact polling places in November 2021. We are working diligently to ensure we have appropriate measures in place and a process for providing election judges and voters with helpful information prior to their entering the polls on Election Day. Since the plan is still quite fluid, we will post any and all information regarding up-to-date City and County health and safety guidelines as it is available. Health and Safety procedures will be featured in the required election judge training session.
