City Employees Going Casual For Charity

Many Golden Valley City employees are going casual this week. City staff will be allowed to dress down Monday, Dec 20, and Tuesday, Dec 21, in return for a $10 donation to two local charities.

The Donate to Dress Down Drive, a suggestion made by City Finance Director Sue Virnig, had not been tried before. City Manager Tom Burt agreed to the event.

“In the spirit of giving during the holidays, it felt like a great thing to promote,” says Chantell Knauss, assistant city manager. “It’s fun for the staff and supports organizations that help keep this community going strong.”

On Monday, staff can wear jeans if they give $5 toward PRISM (People Responding In Social Ministry), a community-funded social service agency that helps families in need of food, financial assistance, transportation and other services.

On Tuesday, staff can go casual for a $5 donation to the Golden Valley Human Services Foundation, a group that allocates funds to a variety of human service organizations throughout the City that help Golden Valley residents in need.
