City Prepares For 2012 Bassett Creek Restoration Project

The City of Golden Valley and the Bassett Creek Watershed Management Commission (BCWMC) have initiated a project to stabilize the stream banks along Bassett Creek from Wisconsin Avenue to 10th Avenue and from Duluth Street to the Golden Valley/Crystal border. The proposed 2012 Bassett Creek Restoration Project  will address erosion and sedimentation issues that contribute to diminished water quality.

The City conducted informational meetings August 17, 2011 for businesses and residents with property adjacent to the project area. Staff is using public input from this meeting to continue work on plans and prepare for a bid letting in late fall 2011. The City will hold open house in the near future to present a final design to property owners. Invitations will be sent by mail.

The project is funded by the BCWMC as part of its Capital Improvement Program, and there are no assessments to adjacent property owners.
