Golden Valley Library Celebrates Its 40th And The City’s 125th

To commemorate the City of Golden Valley’s 125th anniversary and the Golden Valley Library building’s 40th anniversary, Friends of the Library will host an open house and program Saturday, Oct 15, 2011, 10 am – 4 pm, at the library at 830 Winnetka Ave N.

The event will feature displays of memorabilia and photos from the early days of both the library and the city. The library will also showcase artwork by students from Perpich Center for Arts Education. A highlight will be the unveiling of a new mural created by Artist in Residence Peyton Russell and Perpich students.

A program at 1 pm will honor current and former library staff, volunteers, and members of Friends of the Library. The program will conclude with “Legal Landmarks in Golden Valley,” presented by Golden Valley attorneys  Marshall H. Tanick, Lynn Gitelis, and Cathy Gorlin, who will discuss 10 famous cases that took place in Golden Valley.
