Summer Has Arrived For GV Parks And Recreation

Now that winter is finally over, don’t hesitate to get outside and enjoy summer. Golden Valley offers abundant activities and events to help you maximize your time outdoors.

The summer events kick off in June with Concerts in the Park held every Monday from June 10 to July 29, 7 pm, at Brookview Park. An Ice Cream Social will take place during the June 15 concert with free Sebastian Joe’s ice cream.

For the kids, the Puppet Wagon Shows will be held every Tuesday and Thursday, June 11–July 25. The Penny Carnival, with all activities 5 cents for less, is Fri, July 26, 10:30 am–12:30 pm, at Brookview Park. The Picnic & Music in the Park event is Wednesday, Aug 7 11:15 am–noon, at Brookview Park. Water Days, Friday, June 21, from 12:30–2:15 pm, transforms the big hill at Scheid Park into three water slides. For a few hours, kids can enjoy sliding, DJ music, and puppet shows.

Fifteen percent of Golden Valley (more than 1,035 acres) is dedicated to parks and open space, and the City maintains nearly 50 miles of trails for walking and biking, as well as myriad ball fields, courts, and activity areas.

To find things to do or places to go in Golden Valley, go here. Wondering where to find a tennis court, softball field, or picnic shelter? The “Parks and Trails” link maps out City parks and trails and lets you find parks by activity. Want to try a sport, class, or other activity?
