This week on Metropolitan Council Environmental Services (MCES) regional sanitary sewer force main project, crews will continue stringing force main pipe through tunnels under the Canadian Pacific Railroad and Hwy 55 and installing force main north from Glenwood Ave to the receiving pit of the railroad tunnel. Auto thieves sped off with 19 vehicles in Golden Valley in 2011 and another 24 in 2012, contributing to a sustained increase in the crime over the last few years, but soon Golden Valley police may have a new tool to put the brakes on those numbers: a bait car. The City doesn’t currently have funds to cover the car equipment and software costs, but it will get help Aug 14 from a Covenant Village retirement community pancake breakfast fund-raiser. Read More

If you enjoy interacting with kids, consider signing up to help with the City’s annual Penny Carnival. The event will be held Friday, July 26, at the Brookview Park large picnic shelter. Volunteers are needed to help run carnival games, collect pennies, and hand out prizes. Read More

Golden Valley’s emergency brush pickup from the June 20-22 storms was completed Thursday, July 18. Crews checked Areas 1, 2, and 3 as each area was completed, and all eligible missed pickups have now been collected. Read More
