April 21-25 Is Severe Weather Awareness Week

As part of Severe Weather Awareness Week, April 21-25, state-wide tornado drills are scheduled for Thursday, April 24, at 1:45 pm and 6:55 pm. The outdoor warning sirens will sound as part of both drills.

The first drill is statewide, allowing hospitals, schools, and businesses to practice their emergency plans. The second drill at 6:55 pm is to give families and second-shift workers a chance to practice.

For more than 25 years, the state of Minnesota has conducted a Severe Weather Awareness Week in partnership with the National Weather Service and local governments. The campaign helps teach Minnesotans about weather hazards and provides resources to minimize the risks associated with severe weather.
