Eight GVPD Members Accept Ice Water Challenge To Raise Funds For Officer Down Memorial

Eight members of the Golden Valley Police Department accepted the ice-water challenge Thursday to help raise funds for the Officer Down Memorial Page, a non-profit organization dedicated to honoring America’s law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. The GVPD officers, each responding to challenges from other officers, endured a backhoe bucket’s worth of ice water, and nominated over a dozen other officers to take part in the challenge.

Officers who accept the challenge are asked to donate $10 to the Officer Down fund, says Randy Mahlen, GVPD detective. Those who don’t accept the challenge are asked to donate $100. The eight Golden Valley officers who accepted the ice-water challenge Thursday included Chief Stacy Carlson, Sgt. Steve Johnson, Mahlen, detective Danny Pacholke, detective Laura Gould, officer Dan Wilcox, officer Lance Evans, and CSO Michael Ahlmann.
