Bassett Creek Restoration Project Open House Is Jan 8

The City of Golden Valley is hosting an informal open house meeting Thursday, January 8, 2015, to discuss proposed improvements to properties that are part of the 2015 Bassett Creek Restoration Project. The project is scheduled for construction in late 2015.

The open house will be held between 5 and 7 pm in the City Hall Council Chambers, 7800 Golden Valley Rd. It will provide an opportunity for adjacent property owners to discuss the preliminary construction plans and the potential impacts to your property along Bassett Creek. The City sent letters about the open house to adjacent property owners Dec 23.

The City previously held a public information meeting in April 2014 to explain the project in detail and solicit public input. Comments from that meeting, along with site evaluations and a feasibility report, helped staff design and develop preliminary construction plans that will be available for review at the Jan 8 open house. The general approach of the project is to use soft, vegetative techniques to the extent feasible and introduce stone and boulder features where appropriate along the stream.

The City and the Bassett Creek Watershed Management Commission (BCWMC) initiated the project to stabilize eroding stream banks, protect and improve water quality, preserve natural aesthetics and enhance habitat, and prevent future erosion.

If you have any questions about the project, contact Eric Eckman at 763-593-8084 or EEckman@goldenvalleymn.gov.
