State Elected Officials To Host Town Hall Meeting March 24 On Oil Train Safety
March 19, 2015
Several state representatives and a state senator will host a town hall meeting to discuss oil train safety and other issues Tuesday, March 24, 6 to 7:30pm, in the Fireplace Room at the Theodore Wirth Chalet.
State Representatives Raymond Dehn, Mike Freiberg, and Frank Hornstein and State Senator Bobby Joe Champion will preside.
Community members will have an opportunity to hear from their elected officials as well as share their concerns about the proposed proposed freight rail connection in Crystal from the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) railway to the Canadian Pacific (CP) railway.
The Theodore Wirth Chalet is located at 1301 Theodore Wirth Parkway, Golden Valley, MN 55422.
Previously, the Cities of Crystal, Robbinsdale, and Golden Valley hosted an open house on the issue March 7, and US Representative Keith Ellison hosted a public forum on the issue March 11.
BNSF has said the connection in Crystal would allow CP freight trains to go south on the BNSF line through Robbinsdale, Golden Valley, Theodore Wirth Park, and Minneapolis.
More information about the proposed BNSF/CP freight rail connection, including links to print and broadcast media stories, is available on the City of Crystal website.
