The week of August 3, Hennepin County will begin resurfacing Golden Valley Rd (CSAH 66) from Toledo Ave N to Xerxes Ave N. The work is expected to take one week to complete. Please follow all traffic control signage through this area and expect lane closures with some minor delays.

MnDOT will discuss its plans to improve Hwy 169 between Hwy 55 and Hwy 62 at an informal open house August 19, 4–6 pm, at Hopkins Center for the Arts, 1111 Mainstreet, Hopkins. The public is invited to attend.

Beginning at 10 pm Friday, July 31, MnDOT construction crews will close the mainline lanes on eastbound I-394 between Hwy 100 and I-94, shifting all eastbound I-394 traffic to the two HOV/Reversible Lanes. The closure will last approximately two weeks. Motorists should expect significant delays during the morning and evening rush hours and plan accordingly.

Starting July 28, Golden Valley residents interested in becoming City policy makers can file to run for Mayor or City Council in this year’s Nov 3 municipal election. Voters will elect one Mayor (four-year term) and two Council Members (four year terms). Read More

The Golden Valley City Council is seeking citizens interested in becoming more active in their city government by volunteering to serve on the City’s Advisory Boards and Commissions. Read More

Beginning Monday, July 27 and lasting through the week, vehicles will not be allowed to make a left turn onto Plymouth Ave from northbound Winnetka Ave. A detour will be provided that uses the following roadways: Winnetka Ave, Medicine Lake Rd, and Mendelssohn Ave. Please adhere to the signage and plan your trip accordingly.

The Golden Valley City Council concluded its search for a new city manager after interviews July 23 by selecting Anoka City Manager Timothy Cruikshank from a field of four finalists. The other finalists were Delano City Administrator Philip Kern, Windom City Administrator Steven Nasby, and former Willmar City Administrator Charlene Stevens. Read More

At two open houses July 15 and July 20, the City of Golden Valley presented initial design concepts and cost estimates for the proposed replacement of Brookview Community Center, and the public was invited to provide input. Approximately 40 people attended both events, which were held from 6-7:3o pm at Brookview Community Center.
