MnDOT To Host Aug 19 Open House On Proposed Improvements To Hwy 169

MnDOT will discuss its plans to improve Hwy 169 between Hwy 55 and Hwy 62 at an informal open house August 19, 4–6 pm, at Hopkins Center for the Arts, 1111 Mainstreet, Hopkins. The public is invited to attend.

Hwy 169 Project MapThe project proposes to rebuild and rehabilitate the infrastructure on Hwy 169 between Hwy 55 and Hwy 62 starting in fall 2016 through fall 2017. Work will include:

  • replacing the Hwy 169 bridge over Nine Mile Creek in Hopkins, Minnetonka, and Edina (this will require closure of Hwy 169 at this location for one year)
  • closing the sub-standard highway ramps at 16th St
  • improving the safety of entrances and exit ramps at the Cedar Lake Rd interchange
  • repairing pavement throughout the corridor

The project will improve driver safety and accessibility and provide a smoother road surface and longer lasting bridge.

The construction is expected to cause major traffic impacts due to the year-long closure of Hwy 169 at the bridge location and reduction of traffic to one lane in the remaining project areas.

Open house attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the overall project and get details about specific project elements, project schedule, and next steps in the overall plans for Hwy 169. Representatives from MnDOT and project staff will be on hand to answer questions.
