Golden Valley And Beyond The Yellow Ribbon Quad Communities Host Veterans Day Event

Sgt Marcus Kuboy, an army medic who survived a roadside bombing in Iraq, will be the guest speaker Nov 11 at “Honoring Our Veterans,” a program sponsored by the City of Golden Valley and Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Quad Communities. The event begins at 9:30 am at the Westphal American Legion Post 251, 3600 France Ave N, Robbinsdale.

The morning will begin with coffee and a short ceremony. Then Kuboy will take the stage to speak about his experiences while deployed in Iraq and how being hit by a roadside bomb while riding in a Humvee has affected his life. During the 14 months he spent in the Walter Reed and Minneapolis VA hospitals, Kuboy says he had the choice to “get bitter or better.”

Kuboy’s story of struggle and recovery has been inspirational to many, and the public is invited to attend this free program as Golden Valley and its neighbors celebrate Veterans Day 2015.

Beyond The Yellow Ribbon Quad Communities is a grassroots citizen group that engages the communities of Golden Valley, Crystal, New Hope, and Robbinsdale in support of military members, veterans, and their families.
