Noble Elementary students cheered on around a dozen police officers and staff Dec 7 as they lined they gym stage to do Burpees for Bucks, the latest community outreach program by the Golden Valley Police Department (GVPD). Each completed burpee raised money for the GVPD’s new Shop With A Cop program, with all proceeds benefiting local youth in need during the holiday season. At its Dec 1 meeting, the Golden Valley City Council unanimously adopted the City’s proposed 2016-2017 biennial budget and 2016 tax levy (payable 2016). The 2016 tax levy will be $19,813,310, a reduction of $129,000 from the preliminary levy of $19,942,310 adopted by the City Council Sept 1. Read More

New this winter, Brookview’s 18-hole course will offer disc golf. Disc golf works like regular golf, but instead of hitting a ball into a hole, players throw specially-designed discs into chain baskets, counting up the number of throws it takes to get from the launch point to the basket. Read More

Eastbound Glenwood Ave between Georgia Ave and Western Ave will be closed to traffic Dec 3 from 8:30 am to approximately 7 pm to complete emergency utility work. A detour will be established by warning lights that uses Jersey Ave, Laurel Ave, and Xenia Ave.  Read More
