January 14, 2016
Golden Valley’s City Council meeting next week will be held Wed, Jan 20 instead of Tues, Jan 19 to accommodate a Metro Blue Line Extension LRT (Bottineau Light Rail Transit) public hearing Jan 19 in Minneapolis. The Golden Valley City Council will hold its own LRT public hearing Tues, Feb 2.
The Jan 19 joint public hearing will be hosted by the Metropolitan Council (Council), Hennepin County Board of Commissioners and the Hennepin County Regional Railroad Authority (HCRRA) at the Minneapolis Central Library, Pohlad Hall, 300 Nicollet Mall. An open house is scheduled for 5 pm, with the public hearing at 6 pm.
The public hearing is part of the municipal consent process set forth in Minnesota Statues section 473.3994 and will focus on the physical design component of the preliminary design plans for the METRO Blue Line Extension project. All interested persons are encouraged to attend the public hearing and offer comments.
Upcoming Municipal Public Hearings
The Metropolitan Council has submitted municipal consent plans for the METRO Blue Line Extension project to each city along the 13-mile transit line. The plans include a process for collecting public input and for local review and approval of the preliminary design plans. Golden Valley’s municipal consent open house and public hearing is scheduled for Feb 2, 2016, 6 pm, at Golden Valley City Hall.
All interested persons are encouraged to provide input, and there are multiple ways to do so:
- Attend the public hearings scheduled for each city and comment on the physical design of the LRT alignment within that city.
- Use the Met Council’s online comment form.
- Send comments by mail or email (get details at www.BlueLineExt.org).
