Golden Valley Fire Department Receives CenterPoint Energy Grant

The Golden Valley Fire Department received a $2,500 matching grant from CenterPoint Energy this July. The CenterPoint Energy’s Community Partnership Grant helped the City purchase four gas monitors, new helmets and boots, flashlights and traffic safety vests and cones that will be used to serve the community.

CenterPoint Energy’s Community Partnership Grant Program annually awards grants to local communities to fund safety-related equipment and projects.

“Public safety is consistent with CenterPoint’s mission,” says Ken Bence, the Golden Valley fire fighter who applied for the grant. “Because we have large CenterPoint facilities in our City, it benefits them to benefit our fire department. By helping to protect us, they’re protecting their own people.”

The money awarded through the grant, matched by the City, helps keep the department’s inventory up to snuff, Bence says.

The grant was awarded at the July 5 City Council meeting.
