Douglas Dr/Medicine Lake Rd Intersection Work Complete; Curb Work Expected This Week

The Douglas Dr project continues to move forward, with crews completing work at the intersection of Medicine Lake Rd (County Rd 70) and Douglas Dr (County Rd 102). All lanes are now open in both directions; however, access to Douglas Dr to the south is still restricted.

Over the last couple weeks, crews were working in the intersection to replace water main pipes, install new storm and sanitary sewer pipes, relocate other below-ground utilities, and pave the intersection. Additional paving will occur later this year with the rest of Douglas Dr.

The first fresh cement of the project will be poured this week. as crews begin installing new curb and gutter along the north side of Duluth St (County Rd 66) between Adair Ave N and Douglas Dr. Crews will use a special machine that pours wet cement is poured into a moving form that shapes the curb as it dries. This work is expected to take two to three days. Once the curbs are complete, crews will install new sidewalk on the north side of Duluth St, then move on to paving the roadway.

Duluth St Traffic Shift

Once crews complete work on the westbound (north) side of the road, all traffic will shift onto the westbound side so work can begin on the eastbound (south) side. This shift is tentatively scheduled to happen Thursday, Sept 15, and be in place until the reconstruction of Duluth St is finished later this year.
